PM Narendra Modi who was recently on a two days visit to Guajrat, plans to visit Gujarat once a month till September.
According to sources, Modi will visit Gujarat once on May 21 and 22 to attend a meeting of the African Development Bank at Gandhinagar and also to participate in the ceremony at Rajkot for the launch of SAUNI third phase. He may attend one more function in May.
“In June, he will come to Gandhinagar for a national textile meeting and to attend an event to celebrate Indo-Russian bilateral ties,” a source said. “Major public functions and a road show are also planned for June.”
In July, Modi will again be in Gujarat to take part in the centenary celebrations of the establishment of the Sabarmati Ashram by Mahatma Gandhi. In August, he will come for the completion and gate-closing ceremony of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam at Kevadiya Colony. In August itself, the PM will lay the stone for the proposed tribal university near the Narmada dam site, sources said.
“In September, PM will visit his home town Vadnagar to inaugurate a hospital and medical college as well as several new public works,” a source said. “He will also address a major public meeting in Mehsana district during his visit.”
Gujarat government and the state BJP are planning a number of events in the coming months that would be chaired by Modi. “These meetings are expected to boost the BJP’s prospects in the assembly elections and help the party meet the target of 150 seats”, said sources.
PM has visited his home state more than 10 times in past 10 months ahead of the assembly elections roughly scheduled in December 2017.
