    When travelling around the world, it's not always a bad idea to do your research on local laws and traditions. Not only could this keep you out of trouble, but it can also help you get the most out of your holiday.

    Turns out there are a lot of places that have strange laws, though many are hopefully archaic and rarely enforced. However, there are some weird and wonderful rules that surely nobody is expected to follow.

    Chewing Is Illegal

    Chewing gum is completely illegal in Singapore since 1992. There is a ban on importing chewing gum into Singapore.

    Under the rule, only nicotine gum is allowed, but even then someone can get it from a doctor with a prescription.

    No gum is allowed to be bought or sold inside Singapore and there is a $500 fine for spitting out gum on the streets.
